Friction Drive Printing Presses. Each
Make light work of all kinds of pressure printing such as intaglio and relief printing such as; lino, letterpress, etching plates, and wooden blocks.
Professionally manufactured from cast aluminium and fitted with 80mm diameter steel pressure rollers giving a press force of 1000kg.
Each press is fitted with a gearbox working to ratio 2.2:1 which makes the handle turn more easily.
The distance between the top roller and the plate bed can be adjusted to a maximum of 18mm allowing thicker plates to be used.
If you want to use plates thicker than 18mm please call us for a quotation.
A friction driven press relies on the correct downward pressure of the top roller to move the plate bed through the press as it makes contact with the lower roller.
To prevent the top roller from stopping at the edge of the plate/lino use master off-cuts which are the same depth as your plate.
Use masking tape to adhere them to the bottom plate and make sure they run the full length of both sides. This is vital to ensure that the roller runs smoothly over the plate also and to prevent crushing a collagraph plate.
Oil all the moving parts of the press from time to time to stop it from seizing up and to make it easier to run prints through the press.
Each press is supplied with a plate bed and felt blanket and four bolt holes for bench top fitting, instructions for fitting the turn wheel and for oiling the press correctly.
